I’m a middle-aged Englishwoman (born in 1959) and a graduate of the University of Cambridge.
I’m a multi-skilled publishing professional. This means that people pay me to write, edit, proofread and typeset text, and also to edit digital images and create illustrated publications. I work for my own limited company.
I enjoy making visual art, and have exhibited my work as part of Cambridge Open Studios.
I changed career in my early 40s. Until then I was quite a successful software engineer, specialising most recently in release management and the development of automated build systems. I worked for ARM, Harlequin and Topexpress.
I live with my husband by the river in Chesterton, which is an ancient village that became part of Cambridge long ago. We don’t have children.
I’m involved in politics. I stood for election, unsuccessfully, to Cambridge City Council as Labour candidate for East Chesterton in 2000, 2002 and 2004. I also served – as a volunteer – as Anne Campbell’s Agent when she was being re-elected as MP for Cambridge in 2001. And I’m a long-standing supporter of electoral reform.
